Larger ImageCoffee Ninja: After a quiet holiday in the green isle of Ireland, WoC now seem determined to take the USA by storm. After an initially underwhelming performance that saw them confined to their little isle, WoC have conjured up 1.6 million plinks to spend on their first foray into America. The potent combination of a strong starting point and generous budget has put them into first place, with their allies VIA trailing in fifth. WoC’s rapid expansion means they now share borders with enemies LW and the enigmatic TGG. If needed these clans could probably match WoC plink for plink-this scenario, coupled with upward pressure from VIA in the South could see the life squeezed out of WoC.
VIA seems to have turned its back on its “headline-grabbing” strategies so favoured in the Beta Battles. Now, VIA turns up on the battlefield with a cold determination- no longer seeking glory for the sake of glory, but the glory of extinguishing the fires of their enemy’s ambitions. With NiF rumoured to be struggling with the “debt” incurred from the last battle, VIA have turned their attention to LW. Spawning in Guatemala, VIA moved slowly and surely up north towards LW. Not without a hitch or two- two newcomers, [/TI\] and [QC]. TI hold 1 territory, insignificant in itself. Located on an island in the bottom right, it is a prime launching point for anyone who would wish to do some serious damage to VIA’s and WoC’s flanks. The real cherry is here is the fact that TI have 8,000 troops happily waiting to expand and conquer the surrounding territories. VIA’s northern border appears to be quite the mess. Newcomers QC spawned in Mexico, quickly securing the area; only to run head first into LW’s expansion force. With VIA pushing up north, and aggressive LW and TAR nibbling at QC’s holdings, can these guys survive?
iK slipped onto the battlefield in Wisconsin with a relatively conservative spend of 1.6 million plinks. At one stage they held 81 territories but a series of attacks by DJR and SAS reduced this to 51. Things aren’t looking good for these veterans- with the majority of their holdings held by a single man and hordes of enemies massed on their borders poised to strike. Further north, iK’s armies are cut off from the south.
Mr [insert name here]:LW are in third place, having only put 575,000 plinks on the table. Nestled underneath their allies SAS, they expanded east with little opposition until reaching Missouri- WoC’s eastern border. A small amount of action from QC stopped them moving into Mexico, while their combined forces not only held the border with TAR, but pushed them into Mexico
as well- it is getting quite cramped in there. LW commanders are desperately drawing new battleforms and trying new strategies to topple the WoC's grip in south-western lands while trying to keep themselves being annihilated from south. They definitely need the help of their allies if they wish to succeed in their campaign.
SAS was one of the most successful armies in tonight's battle. Lemoncake recruited a mysterious mercenary, who looked to be all but a newcomer, to help him out in their conquest to the East. However, it didn't come over that easily. They had a battle lasting about 30 minutes with TAR which cost both sides a hefty amount of troops, but in the end, they forced TAR to retreat to Mexico. On the other side of their campaign, SAS were expanding fast towards the Mid-American states. They then joined forced with their allies LW and DjR to battle iK regiments in South Dakota and Nebraska.
DjR started up north but had a pretty hard start right off the bat. They saw the swarms of a gigantic force called "EGO" spawning right above them in northern Alaska. While trying to hold a grip of things and pulling themselves together, they were attacked by iK in Yukon state of Canada. However they chose to expand rather than fighting in the first minutes of the battle window. However, with iK keeping on blocking their ways, Dougle lost his mind and our boys caught up his mad scream on top of
Mt.McKenzie: "LEEEROOOOOYYY~!!!" It was clear that DJR didn't like the way iK was playing, so with the help of their allies, they pushed iK further and further back.
One of the earliest battles of the day was taken place in the popular lands of California.
A spy in San Bernardino noticed the swarm of TAR army troops moving to North and East.
However, they were suddenly confronted with LW forces who didn't like their surprise visit to Arizona.
As if that wasn't enough, they were attacked by angry SAS troops who wouldn't look be satisfied with nothing but the demise of TAR.
A disturbing communication was caught between VIA and SAS leaders:
"VIA: tar+sas alliance?
-SAS: NO!"
Eventually TAR was forced to retreat to a safe haven in Mexico to recoup the losses and gather some serious amount of troops to avenge SAS and LW.
However that retreat took out some of QC's troops and territories, butchering them till the end. We will see how well they took it later on.
Coffee Ninja: Undoubtedly this battle’s biggest enigma has to be Ego. A huge organisation of 293 counterstrike players, these guys have amassed a warchest to rival NiF’s. Spending 8.5 million plinks created a logistical nightmare, with Ego spending most of their time deploying their colossal force. With their troops in place, next Sunday will see their first opportunity to pillage and burn!
For those who like to play it safe, Greenland is the ideal starting spot. Access to it is restricted to a few choke points and camping is (almost!) encouraged. TGG hold Greenland, no doubt hoping that it will server as a last resort if they need to “fallback”. I’m not suggesting that they are content to sit back and watch however, with a very small army (330,000 plinks), TGG managed to carve out a fief of 83 territories for themselves- enough to put them in 5th place. Interestingly enough, newcomers XTRME are smack bang in the middle of TGG’s little fief. Judging by the TGG’s 1 man territories surrounding XTRME, I’d say that it is a symbiotic relationship as opposed to a parasitic one. To hold off the hungry hordes TGG are going to have to dip into their coffers and get more troops on the field..
